Overview

GLC-TE operates on standard Category 5 unshielded twisted pair at link lengths up to 100 m. Cisco's data sheet states 10/100/1000 autonegotiation and Auto MDI/MDIX; the speeds actually available depend on the host platform and software, so confirm them in the compatibility tables.

It is rated for the extended temperature range of -5 to 85°C. As a copper module it has no optical DOM. It is supported in Gigabit SFP ports across Catalyst, Nexus, ISR and Catalyst IE platforms; SFP-1G-T-X is a separate part for 10G ports.

Edition and part numbers

SFP-GE-T is another extended rated 1000BASE-T part, GLC-T-RGD is industrial rated, and SFP-1G-T-X only works in 10G capable ports.

Questions about the GLC-TE

Does it support 10/100 Mbps?
The data sheet lists 10/100/1000 autonegotiation, but support for lower speeds depends on the host switch or router and its software. Check the Cisco compatibility tables for your platform.
Does it work in a 10G SFP+ port?
Only where Cisco lists it for that platform. For 10G ports Cisco offers SFP-1G-T-X, which runs at 1G in 10G capable ports.
How quickly can you confirm availability?
