Overview

This is a high-capacity DDR5 RDIMM from SK hynix: 128GB on a single 288-pin module, running at 5600 MT/s (PC5-44800) with CAS latency 46 at 1.1 V. The module uses 3DS (through-silicon via) stacked DRAM, organised as two package ranks of two-high stacks, written 2S2Rx4. A registering clock driver and on-module power management sit on the DIMM, as on every DDR5 RDIMM.

It is the common choice for GPU servers and memory-heavy hosts. Eight-GPU HGX systems are typically built with 2TB of system memory, which is sixteen of these modules across two sockets, and in-memory databases, large virtual machine hosts and data pipelines feeding training jobs benefit in the same way.

Use the module in servers whose motherboard and CPU support DDR5 RDIMMs, such as 4th and 5th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable, Intel Xeon 6 and AMD EPYC 9004 and 9005 platforms. On platforms rated above 5600 MT/s the memory runs at its own 5600 rating; on lower-rated platforms it runs at the platform speed. Populate each channel with identical modules and check the server vendor's qualified memory list for 3DS 128GB RDIMMs.
