Overview
The 93180YC-FX3 is built on Cisco Cloud Scale silicon. Its 48 downlinks run at 1, 10 or 25 Gbps and its six uplinks at 40 or 100 Gbps, with a 40 MB shared buffer, 16 GB of system memory and a 128 GB SSD. Forwarding tables hold up to 1.79 million IPv4 routes and 512,000 MAC addresses, and the switch supports MACsec, PFC, ECN and RoCE for lossless storage and AI/ML traffic.
It can run in Cisco NX-OS mode for VXLAN EVPN, routed and Layer 2 fabrics, or in Cisco ACI mode as a leaf, and is also supported by Cisco Nexus Hyperfabric. Unlike its siblings in the FX3 range, it has GNSS antenna, 1PPS, 10 MHz and Time of Day ports and supports PTP telecom profiles with SyncE and boundary clock, which suits telco data centre edge designs. It can also act as a parent for up to 16 Nexus 2000 fabric extenders.
Power supplies and fan trays are chosen by airflow direction, port-side intake or port-side exhaust, and are separate part numbers in Cisco's ordering information. The base NX-OS software covers Layer 2 features; Layer 3 routing, multicast routing and fabric management in Nexus Dashboard need a Cisco DCN licence tier (Essentials, Advantage or Premier), activated in the buyer's Cisco Smart Account.
Typical uses
- Server access and top-of-rack leaf
- VXLAN EVPN and Cisco ACI fabrics
- AI/ML and RoCE storage networks
- Telco edge data centres needing PTP and SyncE
- Nexus 2000 FEX aggregation
